Spill Tips

HELP LINE: (866) 713-3025

We have provided, for your convenience, a basic ‘do it yourself’ guide for the treatment and removal of some of the more common spills.  Prompt action may keep that ‘spill’ from turning into a ‘stain’. While we encourage all of our valued clients to phone us when in doubt, the following will serve as a basic guideline when prompt action is needed.   Remember, a professional cleaner has methods available to minimize any potential discoloration, to disinfect and deodorize the area, and to alleviate the odor.

This is not a substitute for professional services!

  Spill Type

Products Needed

Action

Coffee, tea, soda

 Ammonia, water

(4 parts water to 1 part clear ammonia)

Spray affected area; blot; let dry.

Dog/cat urine, feces

Ammonia, bleach-free neutral detergent (Ivory), white towels

Absorb as much as possible with clean, white towels. Blot area with ammonia solution (as directed above) & place towels over area until dry. If feces, remove deposits & clean with neutral detergent (1 tsp. in a cup of warm water). Repeat drying step.

Solvent soluble stains

(nail polish, ink, grease)

Acetone, bleach-free neutral detergent, white towels

Apply small amt. of acetone & rub in with brush. Blot area. Neutralize with detergent solution (1 tsp. in cup of warm water). Dry.

Vomit/blood

Dissolve 1 tbsp. detergent in 1cup hot water & apply to affected area. Wait approx. 5 min. Blot. Rinse with clear water (do not over-wet). Dry with towels.
